Privacy policy
Last updated
This policy explains how personal data is handled when you use the My Stuff iPhone app (on the App Store as “My Stuff: Scan, Price & Sell”) and this website.
In short: My Stuff uses your data to identify, price and keep track of your items and to draft your listings. It doesn’t sell your data, show ads, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites. You can delete any item, or your whole account with everything in it, from the app at any time, and deletion is immediate.
Who is responsible
My Stuff is provided by Kaine Ventures, LLC, a company in the United States (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of your personal data, including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies. Write to hello@getmystuffapp.com about anything in this policy.
To write to us by post, email hello@getmystuffapp.com first and you will receive the postal address to use.
What is collected
Your account. Your name and email address and the user ID created when you sign in, with Apple or with your email address. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may share a private relay address instead of your email, and your name only if you choose to share it.
Your items. The photos you take or pick for an item, the notes you add, and what My Stuff produces and you record for it: the identification (name, brand, model, category, condition, visible details and text on the item), each price estimate with its comparable listings and the searches behind it, your asking price, listing drafts and listing links, sales (price, date, where and a note), and each item’s status. Also your pricing settings: lookup mode, region, marketplaces, currency and listing language.
Photos without location. My Stuff downscales and re-encodes every photo on your iPhone before upload, which removes the EXIF metadata, including GPS location. The camera is used only when you take a photo of an item, and from your photo library My Stuff reads only the photos you pick.
Your plan and usage. Whether you have My Stuff Pro and its renewal status, through RevenueCat, and a count of the item scans you have used, so the free allowance and Pro’s monthly allowance can apply. Apple processes all payments; we never see your card details.
Notifications, if you turn them on. Your device’s push token and a record of the notifications sent to it. My Stuff asks for notification permission only when you turn notifications on in Profile → Settings → Notifications.
Technical data. Our servers process technical data such as your IP address, app version and request details to deliver each request, limit abuse and keep the service secure. Server logs record your user ID only in hashed form.
Product analytics, where enabled. If product analytics are turned on for My Stuff, our servers record events about how features are used (for example, that an item was created, with the number of photos and the lookup mode, or that a listing draft was written for a marketplace), linked to your internal user ID. They never contain your photos, notes or the text of your items.
Crash diagnostics, where enabled. If crash reporting is turned on in the app, crash and performance reports (device model, iOS and app version, and what went wrong) are sent to our diagnostics provider. They are not used to track you.
Support. Your email address and anything you write when you contact us.
My Stuff does not collect your location, contacts, audio, browsing history, advertising identifiers or any health data, and it never asks for location or microphone access.
How AI processing works
My Stuff uses AI models from the providers listed below. Our servers call them through their APIs, and they process the data to return a result to us.
- Identifying an item. Your photos and notes are uploaded to My Stuff’s storage, and our servers send them to an AI provider, which identifies the item. The instructions tell the model to ignore people, faces, documents, screens, addresses and other personal information visible in a photo and never to transcribe them.
- Researching the price. In the search-backed lookup modes (AI with web search, AI with marketplace search), our servers send the item’s identification text (name, brand, model and condition) and your region to the AI provider’s web search tool, which searches the web or the marketplaces you chose. Your photos, your notes and serial numbers read from the item are never sent to search. In AI only mode, no search runs.
- Pricing and listing drafts. The identification, the research results and your settings go to an AI provider as text to structure the estimate and to write listing drafts. My Stuff removes phone numbers and email addresses from listing text.
The results are drafts for you to review. You can correct the identification, re-price an item and choose your own price; My Stuff makes no decision about you that has legal or similarly significant effects.
Estimates are not appraisals. My Stuff price estimates are automated guidance based on public listings and AI analysis. They are not professional appraisals, and an item may sell for more or less than its estimate.
Why we use it, and on what legal basis
- To provide My Stuff: your account, identifying and pricing your items, your inventory, listing drafts, syncing between your devices, and exporting and deleting your data. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you (the terms).
- To run your subscription and allowances: checking your plan and counting scans. Legal basis: contract; keeping payment records is a legal obligation.
- To send notifications you turned on. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in the app or in your iPhone’s settings.
- To keep My Stuff secure and working: preventing abuse, limiting request rates, finding and fixing errors, and understanding in aggregate how features are used. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a reliable, safe service. You can object to this processing (see Your rights).
- To answer you when you contact us. Legal basis: contract, or our legitimate interest in answering questions.
- To meet legal obligations, such as accounting rules or a lawful request from an authority.
Who processes your data
We share personal data only with service providers that process it for us under contract, only as far as each one needs to, and never for their own advertising.

|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Sign-in and account management | Name, email address, user ID, sign-in identifiers |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and subscriptions, and push notifications | Sign-in identifiers, purchases, push token |
| RevenueCat | Subscription status for Pro | An internal user ID and purchase history; no name or email |
| Cloudflare (R2) | Storage of item photos | Item photos |
| Google (Gemini API) | AI identification, price research with Google Search, price structuring and listing drafts | Photos, notes, identification text, region |
| Anthropic and OpenAI | The same AI tasks, including web search, when the primary provider is unavailable | Photos, notes, identification text, region |
| PostHog, where enabled | Product analytics | Feature-use events with an internal user ID |
| Sentry, where enabled | Crash diagnostics | Crash and performance reports |
| Vercel | Hosting of this website and its cookieless analytics | Page requests |
| Resend, where enabled | Email to the beta and launch list | Email address |
Your account and item records are held in our own database on servers we run. We may also disclose data when the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of people using My Stuff, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy continues to apply to your data.
Where your data is processed
Item photos are stored with Cloudflare in the European Union. Kaine Ventures, LLC is based in the United States, and several of the providers above process data in the United States, so if you use My Stuff from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, your data is transferred outside it. Where a provider is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions), transfers to it rely on that framework; otherwise they rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, with additional safeguards where needed. You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguards.
How long it is kept
- Your account, items, estimates, listing drafts and settings: for as long as you have an account, or until you delete them.
- A deleted item: its photos, estimate history and listing drafts are deleted straight away. A marker without content (no photos, no text) stays for 30 days so your other devices learn the item is gone.
- Scan counts: for the life of your account, because the free allowance counts every scan you have used.
- Notification records: 90 days.
- Temporary caches: about a day at most.
- Backups: deleted data can remain in backups for up to 14 days, and in offsite backup copies for up to 90 days, until they are replaced.
- After you delete your account: everything above is deleted at once, with your sign-in account at Clerk. What remains holds no name, email or content: the cost records of AI processing, with your user ID removed; the payment event log, which refers to an internal ID; and a record that the deletion happened.
Copies held by others are kept under their own policies: Apple keeps your purchase history under your Apple ID, crash reports expire under Sentry’s retention, and on request we delete your subscriber record at RevenueCat and any analytics events.
Export and delete your data
In My Stuff, open Profile, then Settings:
- Export My Data downloads a file with your items, estimates and pricing settings.
- Delete Account and All Data deletes your account together with your items, photos, estimates and listing drafts. It is immediate and can’t be undone.
You can also delete a single item, with its photos, estimate and listing drafts, from the item itself. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a Pro subscription, which Apple bills: cancel it in your iPhone’s settings too.
Your rights
You can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, or receive it in a portable format, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Most of this you can do in the app; for anything else, write to hello@getmystuffapp.com. We answer within one month, and we may ask you to confirm the request from the email address on your account.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, in particular where you live or work. In Finland, that is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto).
Rights in California and other US states
If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to delete it; to correct it; and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we use it only for the purposes above. In the past 12 months we have collected identifiers (name, email address, user ID), commercial information (your subscription), user content (item photos, notes and records), and technical and usage data, from you and your device, for the purposes above, and disclosed them to the service providers listed above for those purposes only. To make a request, write to hello@getmystuffapp.com; you can also use an authorized agent. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.
Children
My Stuff is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, and if you live in the European Economic Area you must also be old enough to consent to online services under the law of your country (13 to 16, depending on the country). We do not knowingly collect data from younger children; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data travels between the app, our servers and our providers over encrypted connections. Access to production systems is limited to the people who run the service. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affected your data, we would tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Cookies and this website
This website sets no cookies and shows no ads. It uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and a few anonymous events (such as a sign-up to the list below, or opening the beta link) without cookies and without identifying you. The site has no sign-in; its one form is the list below.
The beta and launch list
If you leave your email address on this website, it goes to the My Stuff servers with the page and form you used, your device type (iPhone, Android or other), your browser’s language, any campaign tags in the page address, and whether you asked for the beta or only for the launch. Your IP address is used only to limit sign-ups per network for an hour and is not stored with your address. My Stuff uses the address to send you the TestFlight beta link and one email when My Stuff reaches the App Store; the legal basis is your consent. To be removed, write to hello@getmystuffapp.com or reply to the email, and your address is deleted. The list is deleted when it is no longer needed after launch.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.
